Mercy Regional Cancer Center is pleased to provide the annual Prostate Screening Clinic as a Community Benefit service to people who live in the North State. The Screenings are designed to introduce area men to their first prostate screening examination and help them make this part of their annual physical screening with their family physician or urologist.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in American men and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Early detection and treatment of prostate cancer saves lives. The American Cancer Society recommends that men, 50 years old and above, have annual prostate screening. Men in high-risk groups such as African Americans or those with brothers or fathers who have had prostate cancer should begin screening at age 35.

Prostate Cancer Screening involves 2 tests:
PSA- Prostate Specific antigen: a blood test | DRE- a Digital Rectal Examination
